SEN Support
We have supported numerous families with children with additional needs in our setting and pride ourselves on our ability to adapt our physical spaces and our play and learning styles to suit complex needs. We are a fully inclusive childcare setting and are fortunate to have 2 members of staff who are trained as Early Years SENCOs.
Supportive, Practical & Caring
Navigating the waters of caring for a child with additional or complex needs can be a challenge, but we have been able to support various families throughout their time with us.
For children with additional physical requirements, we have provided practical and physical aids to enable them to be as independent as possible and facilitated physiotherapy throughout the day, enabling children to progress physical development where possible, whilst also always participating fully in the life of the setting. Staff have received additional training in physical handling where appropriate.
Children with emotional and behavioural concerns have also been welcomed into the setting, with every care taken to ensure the child can feel safe, supported and happy whilst they interact with their peers and enjoy the activities presented each day.
As they move toward school entry, we have been happy to lead the way in assisting with appeals for funding, creating school entry plans and liaising with teachers and school support staff to ensure a smooth handover of care from our setting to the school.
If you have a child with additional needs, please contact Lisa or Natalie to have a chat about how we might be able to help.
“We can’t quite believe how amazingly the staff and children have responded to Ovi.
As a wheelchair user, we were concerned that he would struggle to join in, but we couldn’t have been more wrong. Rockers & Rollers have completely absorbed him as one of their own and Ovi has never been happier.”
-Emily (Mum of Ovi, aged 4)
